Book one in the Impossible Love series.
Paralyzed by the past and terrified of the future, Tabitha Kelly is broken.
After a public sex scandal at her college, Tabby moves to a new city with a new school, convinced she can start over. But she soon realizes the changes are not enough. Tabby must take action to help her heal and move on from the past.
And though it sounds crazy, she believes a one-night stand is the best way to take back what’s hers. If she can choose where, when, and most importantly, who … maybe she can regain control.
First, she needs a willing participant.
She finds more than that when she meets Noah Adler.
Unfortunately, she can’t go through with it. And when she tries to forget about the plan—and the guy—it becomes impossible.
Noah quickly weaves his way into her new life and her heart. But as he comes dangerously close to discovering her secret, Tabby’s at risk of losing it all.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very quick and easy to read. The above summary is from Goodreads and I didn’t have that going into this book. So, all I knew was that she thought things could be mended with a one-night stand and something happened that stopped that.
Tabby is a flawed characters. She thinks that by having a one night stand and keeping in control, she can take back what’s hers. She can’t go through with it and ends up kicking Noah out, saying she’s sick.
“Gotta fake it, ’til you make it.”
He then shows up in lots of places such as her in her classes and at the newspaper place she works as. He decides to help her with what’s going on. Slowly, he begin warming her up with new things helping her become comfortable with letting someone else have control of her body.
Tabby’s mom was pretty absent from the story and I felt really bad for her. Going through what she had, she needed both of her parents and her mom wasn’t there for her. When everything happened, he mom dumped her off to be someone else’s responsibility.
“Instead, I ruined everything and ended up at New Beginnings, a temporary residence for the seriously fucked up.”
Her step brother, her mother’s husband’s son was around even more than the mother.
In total, I really enjoyed reading this book but I probably won’t remember it. I liked the love interest Noah and the side characters but it was nothing special. I would continue reading the other books in this series though.
I’m glad the next book is about two side characters because I’d be interested in reading their story.
If you’re looking for a quick, easy NA romance, you should pick this up.
And, if that doesn’t make you want to, have to tell you: it’s got purple text. Like, the purple I use on my banner things. (I’m not sure about the physical books if you can even get physical books but the e-books have it.)
A fan of spunky women, gorgeous guys, and super-hot romance, Clare spends most of her time lost in books. She lives in Minneapolis with her two leading men—her husband and young son—and loves to hear from her fans.
